Horrible Histories - Horrible Hero

As with all our big campaigns for CBBC, our aim was to grow love for the brand and increase online use, particularly among 11-12 year olds. Our core idea was “You’re always slap bang in the middle of things with CBBC.”

The Challenge

To build on the award-winning success of our previous year’s campaign by pushing additional surprise and stand-out. We wanted to increase interactivity and find new ways for the CBBC audience to engage with the brand.


The Solution

We devised a spoof talent show campaign with Queen Elizabeth, a Victorian Pauper and an Aztec, all competing for the title “Horrible Hero.” We created online ‘behind the scenes’ videos and an interactive feature where kids could upload photos and create personalised Horrible Hero albums.
